So day three we decided to try the Solarium cafe for breakfast. A small buffet and definitely not as busy as the main buffet the Windjammer would be. Which made it quick and easy for that 8:20 am morning start. Here are some pictures for you to get an idea. They have both hot foods and cold and a beverage station with drinks. With room to eat both inside and outside and of course, it is a children-free area.
Today's sessions were the last of the supplier presentations and some business-building sessions. So Royal does have conference space down on deck 3 where the two main day sessions took place. The only thing missing is tables. I missed having tables to write at. As a reminder I do group travel and if you are thinking of a conference or incentive-type trip for your employees reach out.
Please meet Jordana from Viking. They do expedition, ocean and river cruises. Ironically their new expedition ship Octantis was sailing down the St Lawrence Seaway by my home as they are now offering Great Lakes Sailings and they were off to Toronto. I was able to follow along on Facebook with many locals posting.
This lady is very, very important to many of us and so many of us hate her product. Meet Karen from Manulife Insurance. This dare I say is the most important piece of any vacation. Especially these days. Travel Insurance is necessary there are no if and butts about it and no they are not all created equal. You and your family need to be protected from the unknown. Yes, it is expensive but what can happen is even more expensive. Please make sure you include this cost in your travel budget always.
I would love to sell more of this lady's products. Meet Kristen from Hurtigruten. They are an expedition cruise company and they are so environmentally friendly and responsible that they are leaders. Kristen is very passionate about what it is they do and that means sometimes she gets a tad bit emotional and she gets me every time. I also love the fact that she is also a huge cat lover and often shares her animals' great stories with us.
This first gentleman is Elvis from Scootaround and they are a brand new supplier with us. I have to say the timing is nothing short of amazing. My mother is at the point where walking long distances is harder for her and yet she still wants to travel with me and her grandchildren. This scooter rental company will allow her to continue to join us. I think with covid more older people who put off travel for a rainy day or going to use this service and make it happen. No more waiting for a rainy day. The time is now!!!
This gentleman David is from another new supplier 5 Continents. I can not wait to bring you my lineup of Canadian travel groups for 2023 courtesy of them. Don't forget if there is somewhere you and your family/group want to go reach out.
Today we once again headed to the main dining room for lunch and sat with our supplier from Insight who offers luxury coach tours. For lunch, I had a caprese-type salad and a seafood sandwich. All very yummy
This afternoon we had business-building sessions. We heard from colleagues about different topics such as marketing, group travel, the topic of service fees which were never charged before but since covid travel agents are looking to be compensated for their work. Insurance is always a difficult subject as well.
So once again the evening was free. We spent the late afternoon in the solarium enjoying chocolate martinis. We then headed to supper once again in the main dining room. Normally with conference, we have theme nights but this year we did not. However, a group of agents decided to observe white night on the ship.
shrimp puff pastry
Coconut cake again no chocolate and I was happy with my choice
So stay tuned for tomorrow we have our first port day.
