NCL Escape 4 (Tortola BVI)

So today's port was Tortola part of the British Virgin Islands. Again I did not plan anything in advance my roommate Sandy and I connected with two other agents on the way off the ship and we decided to do some exploring. When you are directed off the ship you go through some boutique shops some of which were closed and then you will hit the taxi stands. This is where you will get hit for tours and rides. By this time we had made the decision just to hit a beach and relax. Spending long days in training meant we wanted to relax more than anything.
The taxi drivers were willing to take us to a beach for $10USD each. We wanted to pay less. Each of them told us we were nuts and they were regulated and that would be the cheapest rate we could get. So we continued to walk as we got away from the taxi stand area and into the city a taxi stopped we negotiated and got $8.00 USD each (each direction) he suggested the beach we should go to and that he would come back by 1:00 pm to get us. We had to be aboard the ship by 2:30 pm.

So away we went to the beach. We had a great time relaxing and I have to say I had the most amazing Lobster sandwich ever along with the best deep fried onion rings. We did panic a little because the driver was running a bit late but he did call the restaurant (beach spot) we were at to let us know he was on his way. He got us back to the ship with time to spare.

The top five shore excursions listed for Tortola by the ship are as follows:
1. Dolphin Encounter and Swim
2. Island Beach Break
3. Paradise Views and Beach (this is where we ended up)
4. Best of Tortola and Beach
5. Discover Tortola
As usual there are lots of sightseeing, adventure and water-based tours to chose from. The Virgina Gorda & Baths is also popular.
The funny things about both Tortola and St Thomas is that they drive on the left side of the road like the Brits but there cars are actually right hand drive as they tend to import from the States because it is cheaper.
Once again if you decide to stay on the ship there are lots of activities to do as well. They will make sure that you do not have a dull moment ever.

Again I would not mind spending more time in Totola and actually taking a tour of the Islands. I know some agents hired a taxi and went on a tour that took them to several Rum Factories that included taste testing.
