Well, we have gotten to one of the most important parts of a Disney cruise and that is the characters. IT does not matter how old you are. Young and old alike like to meet the characters. I can still remember my first trip to Disney in January of 1998 and worrying about what people would think of 22-year-old wanting autographs and pictures with characters. I lost that hesitation very quickly after watching a group of college guys running from character to character to do just that. Fast forward to 2011 and my first visit with my kids. The excitement in their eyes was a whole new experience along with the terror of a three 1/2-year-old Katherine who was so scared of them. Took her the whole week to warm up to them so we could not have her in our arms for the pictures. She has definitely outgrown that now.
Pre covid when you were on a Disney Cruise you would be able to get close to the characters and get their autographs along with professional pictures which you can buy or not. With covid there are no autographs being done and the characters stand behind a rope barrier and you take your own pictures. Sometimes they are not the best. Marvel days we did get a few professional pictures but still no autographs. My kids still have their autograph books from their Disney visit.
The cool thing about the Fab five is they dress based on the theme for the day so you will have many different versions of them. The atrium spans three floors so you get your work out as they change characters out going up and downstairs. After all who wants to be the person taking the elevator up or down only one floor.
So when we board the ship of course we have sailors Mickey and Minnie who greet us and check out Donald Duck
The princesses we saw on the cruise were Ariel, Mulan, Cinderella, and Tiana. Which worked out very well for us. Ariel is Katherine's favorite and Belle is Daniel's favorite. I am quite partial to Tiana as I collect frogs.
On a pirate night, the characters of course were dressed up as pirates. Stitch was in an area where you can not get up close to the characters. It is a little cut out between the elevators so no pictures with him sadly. Mr. Schmee was telling Daniel that he should polish the railing and Captain hook seemed very much into that. Daniel was not too impressed lol
On a formal night, the characters were dressed to the nine's in their tuxes and a gorgeous dress for Minnie Mouse. All except for Pluto he does not get a costume. He was busy playing Rock, Paper, Scissors with Dale across the balconies and then Chip started playing with Daniel. If I remember correctly Chip won.
They also have the characters on the pathways and beach at Castaway Cay. We met Jack Sparrow and Mickey but we opted for trans over walking so we did not get to meet the others. Beach Chip and Dale, Minne and Goofy.
Any questions about characters let me know. Tomorrow we will start to look at Marvel Days at Sea
